Costumes are welcome but not required. Many guests choose to dress up to feel part of the world of Stillwater Village, but you’re just as welcome in comfortable modern clothes. Whether you come in full garb or jeans and a T-shirt, you’ll be part of the story all the same.

Yes. We’re going for the grounded look of a real medieval and renaissance world (think weathered leather, linen, wool, steel, and handmade detail). Historical dress, working-class and noble alike, is right at home, and so is grounded fantasy in the same key: the ranger, the swordswoman, the traveling mage, the wandering knight. If it looks like it belongs in a world of cloaks, blades, and honest craft, you belong here.

What we steer away from is the modern and the costume-party end of things: visible logos and modern streetwear, sci-fi, superheroes, and modern or non-period anime. We’re aiming for natural materials and lived-in detail over sequins, plastics, and neon. If you’re adapting a favorite character, lean into the grounded, period version and you’ll fit right in.

Masks and face coverings. Any face covering comes off briefly at the gate so we can match you to your ticket, then goes right back on. You may also be asked by staff inside to briefly show your face as well. Religious head coverings, medical masks, and medical or mobility devices are always welcome and are never subject to these guidelines.

Family-friendly. Nothing sexually explicit, no exposed genitals or nipples, no obscene graphics or slogans.

This is a family-friendly event, so please be sure your costume is appropriate for all ages.

Costumes that clearly break theme may be asked to be adjusted before entry. Those who refuse may be denied entry and refunded. These guidelines help ensure the Faire remains an immersive experience for everyone.

Yes, with conditions. Outland Gate Faire is a living history and immersive experience, and period-appropriate weapons and prop weapons are welcome as part of that atmosphere. However, all weapons are subject to our safety policies.

Guests who do not comply with our weapons policy will be asked to secure or remove the weapon. Those who refuse may be removed from the event without refund.

In market, stage, and high-traffic areas: All weapons must be peace-tied and sheathed at all times. No live steel may be drawn. Decorative and costume pieces must remain secured.

In designated combat and tournament areas: Combat safety protocols apply. These areas are supervised by trained marshals, who must be obeyed at all times.

Everywhere on site: Brandishing or aggressive display of any weapon is not permitted in any zone. Staff may ask you to re-sheath, re-secure, or remove a weapon from the site at any time, and that decision is final.

Projectile Weapons

All functional projectile weapons, including bows, crossbows, and firearms of any kind, are not permitted on site unless specifically pre-approved for sale, demonstration, or programming context.
